Adaptive Alpine Level 1 Certification
Prerequisites
- Minimum 16 years of age
- Be an employee or volunteer of a recognized ski school or adaptive ski program and complete a minimum of ten hours of in-house and on-hill training and actual on-hill adaptive teaching
- Be current in dues & credit hours
- Attend the online Alpine Level 1 E-Learning Course
- Attend the Adaptive Alpine Teaching, Technical, and Skiing Applications (highly encouraged, but not mandatory if you have Alpine Level 1 certification)
- Complete and pass the Online Module Assessment for the corresponding on-hill assessment you will be taking at least one week before the assessment:
- Bi-Ski & Mono-Ski
- Cognitive & Visually Impaired
- 3-Track, 4-Track & Slider
- Attend PSIA-RM’s 1-day Sit Down Tethering Foundations Clinic before attending the Bi-ski & Mono-ski on-snow assessment. (Highly encouraged, but not required, if you have completed in-house tethering training with an adapted snowsports school

Adaptive Alpine Level 2 Certification
Prerequisites
- PSIA-RM Adaptive Alpine Level 1 Certified
- Current on Dues & Credit Hours
- Complete and pass both remaining online adaptive module knowledge assessments at least one week before the corresponding on-hill assessments
- Suggested: Complete Adaptive Alpine Professional Development Log for the corresponding module assessments
Requirements
- Complete and pass the Adaptive Alpine Functional Skiing Assessment at a Level 2. (See Further Information for Adaptive Alpine located below for additional information.)
- Attend and pass the remaining online adaptive knowledge module assessments.
- Pass at least one of the Module Assessments at a Level 2 (Note: This is true regardless of when you have taken previous Module Assessments. If you are taking your last Module Assessment and if your previous Module Assessments were not scored as a Level 1 or Level 2, then your last Module Assessment must be passed at a Level 2. If you have passed an earlier Module Assessment and scored as a Level 2, the last assessment can be passed at a Level 1 or 2. Adaptive Alpine Level 3 Certification
Prerequisites
- PSIA-RM Adaptive Alpine Level 2 Certified
- Be an employee or volunteer or a recognized ski school of adaptive ski program. You must have a minimum of 300 hours of adaptive teaching
- Attend the Adaptive Alpine Level 3 Prep Clinic
- Attend one of the four Alpine 200 level electives (Movement Analysis 201 Indoor Clinic; Movement Analysis 201 On-Snow Clinic; Precision Skiing 201; or Technical Foundations Indoor Clinic)
- Complete and pass the Online Adaptive Level 3 Knowledge Assessment at least one week before the on-hill assessment
- Current on Dues & Credit Hours
- Suggested:

Adaptive Alpine RMT Pathway
- Registered Member- pay RM & National dues
Adaptive Alpine RMT Certificate
Prerequisites
- PSIA-RM Adaptive Alpine Level 3 Certified
- Current on Dues & Credit Hours
- Attend the Adaptive Alpine Rocky Mountain Trainer Prep Workshop
- Be an employee or volunteer of a recognized ski school or adaptive ski program and have at least 25 verifiable hours as a clinic leader.
- It is strongly suggested that candidates for Adaptive Trainer obtain Alpine Level 2 Certfication

- Attend and pass the Adaptive Alpine Rocky Mountain Trainer Assessment
Further Information for Adaptive Alpine
- The PSIA-RM Office will send you a notice of all other participants in your assessment. It is your responsibility to work with your fellow assessment candidates and bring all equipment that is needed for your on-hill assessments. You will receive an email prior to the assessment with the email contact info of other participants in the assessment.
- If you received your certification(s) at a PSIA division other than RM, and the division tested on an individual discipline versus Module (i.e.: VI versus Cog/VI) then you must attend and pass each Module Assessment. To receive your Level 2 certification in RM you must pass at least one Module Assessment at Level 2 and the Functional Ski Exam at Level 2. If you have further questions, please contact the PSIA-RM office to determine how to proceed with your certification path.
- As of the 14-15 season, you may pass the Functional Skiing Assessment at a Level 1 or Level 2. If you took your exam prior to the 14-15 season you must re-take the Functional Skiing Assessment and pass at a Level 2. For details on the Level 1 and 2 scoring, see the Adaptive Alpine Functional Skiing Scorecard on the Adaptive Alpine Education Materials link to the right.
- If you are already PSIA-RM Alpine Level 1 certified and wish to attain Adaptive Alpine Level 1 Certification, you may choose to skip the Adaptive Alpine Teaching, Technical, and Skiing Applications Clinic but are highly encouraged to attend as adapted discipline teaching will be addressed. All other prerequisites and requirements remain the same to achieve your Adaptive Alpine Level 1 Certification.
- If you already possess PSIA-RM Alpine Level 2 Certification and wish to attain Adaptive Alpine Level 1 Certification, you may choose to skip the Adaptive Alpine Functional Skiing Prep Clinic and the Assessment. All other prerequisites and requirements remain the same to achieve your Adaptive Level 1 Certification.
- Assessments, whether passed or failed, count towards a member’s credit hour requirement.
