Day 1: This course provides a solid foundation of foundational snowboarding skills and in-depth observation skills. Focus will be on delivering clear and concise descriptions of snowboarding movements in student-centered language. Cause-and-effect relationships and how movement analysis is integrated into the teaching model will be covered. Video and on-snow application of material will anchor concepts. As part of the overall Level 1 Exam Course, this course will end with a written verification of movement analysis knowledge at the Level 1 Certified Standard. The Snowboard Level 1 Study Guide (follow the event materials link) is provided as a preparation and self-evaluation tool. We highly recommend you complete as much of the guide as possible, and bring any questions or clarifications to your exam.

Day 2: This course explores the many aspects of teaching snowboarding with special emphasis on understanding and using the Teaching Model with students. Skills covered include recognizing learning styles and developing teaching progressions. A variety of progressions will be explored, dictated by the participation of the group.

Day 3: This course covers riding, first day through skidded turns (Levels 1 - 4). Personal snowboarding skills will be developed in bumps, carving, switch riding, freestyle and demonstration images. Technical aspects of the sport, such as: snowboard design, bindings and stance, will also be covered in relationship to their impact on effective riding.
