Yoga: The Gift That Keeps on Giving – Christina McGrath

Yoga: The Gift That Keeps on Giving – Christina McGrath

As the season is in full swing and we are riding, skiing, teaching, jumping, spinning, working out, drinking coffee and trying to stay warm – the big question is how to make it out of the crazy season stronger, healthier, happier and better than before.

I believe that we can all better our health, avoid injury and burnout by adding extra attention to our recovery habits. I know you probably agree!

Therefore, I created the power of 5 yoga for skiers and snowboarders – pre snow, post snow, core, recovery and strength sessions. The yoga sessions are exactly what your body needs to keep running full speed all year long and are a blend of the perfect movements to balance your day on the hill.

  • I believe that yoga saved me from burnout and injury.
  • I believe in optimization through recovery.
  • I believe that you can get stronger, faster, and focused with proper and accurate personalized recovery practices.

We must eat, sleep and breathe everyday so why not do that to the best of our ability in a personalized way to optimize our sport? I fell into this idea over 12 years ago, I was teaching full time, running marathons and had a host of physical issues that were starting to break me down. I had this sinking feeling that quite literally my life would be over if I couldn’t’ ride (somewhat inaccurate since a lot of my friends ride after injury) but I could not imagine a day without riding. Do you ever feel like this?

That was when I discovered yoga, which was not mainstream. Since I’m a teacher and love to share, I wanted to teach everyone what I learned so they wouldn’t burn out. I learned quickly that teaching yoga for athletes was so much different and we needed to be strong and not too flexible – but breath work and mobility was the key.

I know you are on the hill almost every day so it’s imperative to your career in this field to fuel your mind and balance your body. These sessions are designed specifically for you. I have been teaching for over 17 years all over the world, sometimes back to back seasons and I have also taught these classes to ski schools in Colorado and New Zealand. My goal is to make sure you feel good and get stronger – I hope you enjoy!
