Policies

RECIPROCITY

  • PSIA is a National Organization.
  • All PSIA and Divisional clinics and certifications are recognized in all eight (8) Divisions.
  • Educational credits and certifications transfer from one Division to another.
  • Exam partial-passes do not transfer from one division to another.
  • Alpine examiners from other division should contact the Director of Education to determine their transfer pathway.

 

FOREIGN CERTIFICATIONS

  • Pros with foreign certification should contact the RM office to determine their pathway into PSIA certification

 

CROSSOVER BETWEEN DISCIPLINES

ALPINE:
A level I or II member in good standing in any other discipline may take Level II prerequisites, then apply for Certified II.

CROSS COUNTRY & TELEMARK:
Any PSIA or AASI member in good standing may attend a Telemark or Cross-Country Level 1 Instructor Training Course.
PSIA Level I or II members in good standing in any other discipline may take the Level 2/3 Instructor Training Course in Telemark or go through the Cross-Country Level 2/3 process.

AASI (Snowboard):
PSIA Level I or II members in good standing in any other discipline (must be a solid level 7 rider) may take the Level II prerequisites and then apply for Certified II.

ADAPTIVE:
A level I or above member in good standing in any other discipline may take Adaptive prerequisites and then apply for Certified II.

 

MEMBERSHIP CLASSES

REGISTERED INSTRUCTOR

  • First level of membership in PSIA-Rocky Mountain-AASI .
  • Requires membership application. 
  • Entitles member to attend Level I prerequisite clinics and other clinics as noted in the Curriculum Guide or on the event pages of the website.
  • Maintain active status by paying annual dues.

CERTIFIED 1

  • First level of Certification.
  • Requires Registered Instructor status.
  • Must be at least 16 years of age to attain Certified 1.
  • Requires successful completion of Certified I process.
  • Maintain active status by paying annual dues and attaining 12 hours (2 days) of update clinics every other year.

CERTIFIED 2

  • Second level of Certification.
  • Required: Attend prerequisite clinics as outlined in this Curriculum Guide.
  • Requires successful completion of all sections of the Certified II exam. If unsuccessful at a section of the exam, that section may be retaken until successfully completed.
  • Maintain active status by paying annual dues and attaining 12 hours (2 days) of update clinics every other year.

CERTIFIED 3

  • Highest level of Certification.
  • Required: Attend prerequisite clinics as outlined in this Curriculum Guide.
  • Requires successful completion of all sections of the Certified III exam. If unsuccessful at a section of the exam, that section may be retaken until successfully completed.
  • Maintain active status by paying annual dues and attaining 12 hours (2 days) of update clinics every other year.
  • Only level of certification entitled to apply for ISIA credentials.

 

MEMBERSHIP STATUS

 

ACTIVE STATUS

  • Instructor is teaching full or part-time during a season.
  • Annual dues payment required.
  • 12 hours (2 days) of update clinics every other year required for certified members. (Each clinic day constitutes one clinic credit.)

INACTIVE STATUS

  • Instructor not teaching at all for an entire season or more.
  • Annual dues payment required.
  • Must submit written request for status change (update clinics must be current at the time of request).
  • 12 hours (2 days) of update clinics every 4 years required for certified members. (Each clinic day constitutes one clinic credit.)

ALUMNI STATUS

  • Instructor is not teaching, does not plan to return to teaching.
  • Must submit written request for status change (update clinics must be current at the time of request).
  • Must have at least ten (10) years of membership in PSIA-RM.
  • Must be at least forty (40) years of age.
  • Annual dues payment required.

 

25-year members have five years to accumulate their required clinic credits.

35-year members and members 70 years of age or older are no longer required to accumulate clinic credits in order to keep membership current.
