Telemark Event Descriptions

  • Learn to Telemark (Intro to Telemark Skiing)

    This is a clinic for people who can already Alpine ski on green terrain and are first time Telemark skiers (or nearly so!). Participants will become familiar with Telemark equipment while learning Telemark and Alpine techniques on easy terrain. Practice with feedback from our top Telemark Education Staff and learn what it takes to become a “Nord”! It is your responsibility to bring or rent telemark equipment.
  • Telemark Blues & Beyond

    This two-day clinic will address the needs of all Telemark skiers from intermediate, (“never-evers” please see Learn to Telemark Clinic!) to bumps and powder. Participants will be divided into groups based on ability. Video, when available, will be used to enhance learning.
  • Telemark Extreme Mountain Performance

    Improve your skill and accuracy while working on your steeps and bump technique. Participants will get feedback on personal performance with video. Skiers must be comfortable on steep black and double-black terrain. Please note: This clinic may ski the most challenging terrain available. Anyone who does not exhibit the skills necessary to participate in this clinic will be offered the chance to join a different clinic group (or a refund if no other clinic is available).
  • Telemark Mini Academy

    Tele Mini Academy brings together rising stars, old hands and luminaries of Telemark instruction, inviting  Snowsports educators from all divisions. Hone your skills and refine your demonstrations with members of the PSIA Nordic Team and other attendees. This event will be a great opportunity to network and get your legs and head in gear for the season ahead. Day 2: Building on skills and standards explored on Day 1, participants will be offered video and real time feedback on individual performance in relation to the standards. Participation in Day 1 is not a prerequisite for Day 2.
  • Telemark Rocky Mountain Academy

    This event will give you the opportunity to ski and ride with PSIA-AASI Alpine, Snowboard and, Telemark National Team Members, some of the best and most dedicated trainers our country has to offer.   Experience top level coaching, tailor made challenges, and expand your horizons with the latest information from across the county and around the world.  Come to Steamboat in January to ski and ride the legendary Champagne Powder and find out why so many of RM instructors make this THE event of their season.   Advanced skiing or riding skills are recommended.
  • Telemark 401 Workshop

    This high-end workshop is designed for any Level 3 Certified Telemark instructor who wants to take their skills to the next level. During these exciting two days, explore advanced training methodology, cutting edge Telemark technique and upper-level progressions and exercises. Improve your coaching for alpine and snowboard instructors crossing over to Telemark. Emphasis will be on fun, sharing ideas and personal improvement in skiing, training and technical knowledge. This is a prerequisite for Telemark Rocky Mountain Trainer.
  • Telemark Level 1 Exam

    While working through skiing, teaching and technical elements of the Telemark Level 1, participants will enhance their personal performance and understanding. Participants are required to download and complete the Telemark Level 1 Certification Workbook from the PSIA-RM website prior to attending the exam. By utilizing the on-hill checklists, participants will enhance and monitor their progress throughout the 3 days. Please Note: This is not a clinic to learn how to Telemark ski. Participants will earn Level 1 Certification upon successfully meeting all performance requirements during the 3-day exam.
  • Telemark Level 2/3 Prep Clinic

    Take the guessing out of your certification preparation with this two-day clinic. Gain a clear understanding of what is required to pass Telemark Level 2/3 Certification. The workshop will cover topics from the Telemark Level 2/3 Certification Workbook, which can be downloaded from the PSIA-RM website. Participants are required to bring their workbook with them to this clinic.
  • Telemark Level 2/3 Exam

    Work through the skiing, teaching and technical elements of Level 2/3 Telemark Certification while improving personal performance and professional growth. Participants are required to download and complete the Telemark Level 2 Certification Workbook from the PSIA-RM website prior to attending. By utilizing the on-hill checklists, participants will be able to enhance and monitor progress throughout the 3 days.
  • Telemark RMT Prep

    This clinic is designed specifically to support Telemark Trainers in preparing for Telemark Rocky Mountain Trainer. Participants will receive coaching on skiing skills as they relate to maneuvers and tasks required for Telemark RMT. High-level technical discussions and improving skills as a trainer of other instructors will also be addressed during this in-depth two days. Participants are required to download the Telemark RMT Workbook from the PSIA-RM website prior to attending this clinic. This clinic is not a prerequisite for the Telemark Trainer, but is highly recommended.
  • Telemark RMT Exam

    This three day event will be a validation of Telemark skills in skiing, training and technical knowledge at the Trainer level. The standard for RMT is substantially higher than that of Level 3! Candidates will be expected to perform high level tasks, demos and free skiing; perform movement analysis and training of peers; and participate in technical discussions on contemporary Telemark skiing. Please come prepared! Becoming Trainer is a prerequisite for application to our Telemark Advanced Educator staff in the Rocky Mountain Division.
