This two-day teacher preparation course is designed to introduce the movement pools need for efficient skiing and to review the functional skiing tasks used while teaching adaptive lessons. The course will cover the different skills and how they relate to specific movement pools with an introduction to skill development and how it relates to lesson planning. ADAPTIVE CERTIFIED I FUNCTIONAL SKIING MODULE

membership or written permission from Division of membership,
completion
of Adaptive Functional Skiing/ITC clinic.

This validation requires proficiency in teaching and technical concepts for levels 1-6 as well as Functional Skiing tasks. The technical/teaching portion includes knowledge about the movement pools, skill development and how they relate to lesson planning. The skiing portion will evaluate the functional skiing tasks used in teaching adaptive lessons. All successful candidates will be able to take the Adaptive specialty module exams. ADAPTIVE CERTIFIED I SPECIALTY EXAM MODULES
Prerequisites:PSIA/AASI-RM
membership or written permission from Division of membership,
successful completion of Adaptive Funcationl Skiing exam module before attending any of the ther adatpvie specialty Cert. modules..

Fee: $110.00 for each module
This validation requires the participant to first take and pass the Functional Skiing/Technical Insight module and then to choose one of the adaptive specialty modules. The Adaptive modules offered are 3-track/4-Track/ Bi/Mono-ski, Cognitive/Visually Impaired. Skiing, teaching, and technical knowledge for levels 1-6, safety, assists, medical knowledge, equipment and assessments of skiers will be evaluated. A written, open-book test is mailed to the candidate with the confirmation letter for the exam. All successful candidates will receive a Level 1 certificate and pin. (Members of other divisions will receive their pin and certificate from their home division.) Candidates must make arrangements with their ski schools to bring adaptive equipment to the exam. Level 2
PROCESS TO OBTAIN ADAPTIVE CERT II
Prerequisites: PSIA-RM-AASI membership or prior
written permission from Division of membership. Candidate must have successfully
completed the functional skiing exam module and one other adaptive
specialty module.
Once a candidate has successfully completed all four exam modules listed
in the Adaptive Level I section they will be Level II certified
and receive a level II certificate and National Adaptive silver
pin.

Level 3
ADAPTIVE TEACHER PREP III
Prerequisites: PSIA
membership, Adaptive Certified II

Fee: $120.00
This two-day clinic will focus on ATS teaching, skill,/movement pool and technical concepts for skiing levels 1-9, physical and cognitive impairments including multiple disabilities, equipment needs, assists and/or guiding techniques and safety concerns related to each skier. Through interaction and discussion the group will examine movement pools and skills for each specialty based on the ATS teaching and technical model. Participants will receive a workbook that augments their professional teaching portfolio. This course is a prerequisite for the Adaptive Level III Certification Exam. ADAPTIVE CERTIFIED III
Prerequisites: PSIA-RM-AASI
membership or prior written permission from Division of membership,
exam application verifying employment at RM member school; Adaptive
Certified II; completion of Adaptive TP III at least 30 days prior,
but not more than 2 seasons prior, to exam.

This two-day validation requires teaching and technical proficiency for levels 1-9 in all terrain for all of the adaptive specialties as well as multiple disabilities. Disability-specific knowledge, skiing, safety, adaptive assists, and medical and equipment assessment of adaptive skiers will be evaluated. A written test will be administered during the exam.
